Choosing the moment

A wedding star map shows the sky over the venue at one moment of the day. You need the place, the date and a time:

• The ceremony, the time on the invitation, is the one most people choose.
• The first dance or the end of the night, if that is the moment the couple talk about.
• The night before, for a gift from one partner to the other on the wedding morning.

The venue’s town or city is enough for the place. We use the time zone and daylight-saving rules in force there on that date, so the sky is right even for a wedding decades ago, before the rules changed.

What to write on it

Under the stars go your own words. A wedding star map usually carries the couple’s names, the date and the venue, and one line: a phrase from the vows, the first-dance song, or something said that day.

Or start from our wedding wording, “The Night We Said I Do” with “Two hearts, one sky.” underneath, and change any of it.

From a guest, or from each other

A star map and the moon from the same night
